Practice Relating to Rule 136. Recruitment of Child Soldiers
In 2007, in its comments to the conclusions and recommendations of the Committee against Torture, Nepal stated:
No person under the age of 18 is recruited in the Nepal Army. … Since the United Nations Mission in Nepal has been entrusted with the task of monitoring and registration of the arms and combatants of the Maoists as per the  Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Government and Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), it is understandable that no child soldiers can remain in the Maoist side as well.
