Practice Relating to Rule 72. Poison and Poisoned Weapons
In its written statement submitted to the ICJ in the
Nuclear Weapons case in 1995, Solomon Islands stated: “International law prohibits the use of weapons which: … are poisonous.”
In its oral pleadings before the ICJ in the
Nuclear Weapons case in 1995, Solomon Islands stated that the use of poisonous weapons was formally prohibited by Article 23(a) of the Hague Regulations of 1899 and 1907.
