Practice Relating to Rule 40. Respect for Cultural Property
Guinea’s Soldier’s Manual (2010), under the heading “Distinctive signs”, shows an image of a building with a blue shield and states: “Do not enter … these buildings, establishments, [and] monuments.”
Guinea’s Disciplinary Regulations (2012) states:
In accordance with the international agreements signed by the government of Guinea, military personnel in combat are required:
…
- … to spare buildings dedicated to religion, art, science and charitable purposes and historic monuments provided they are not being used for military purposes.
