Practice Relating to Rule 156. Definition of War Crimes
Sierra Leone’s Instructor Manual (2007) states:
Any member[s] of the [Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces] who
commit, order, assist, fail to prevent or fail to report serious violations of the law of armed conflict commit war crimes for which they can be tried and, if found guilty, punish[ed].

[emphasis in original]
The manual also states: “The torture of prisoners is a war crime.”
