The Constitution guarantees the protection of most of the fundamental rights common to international human rights law and international humanitarian law, such as the right not to be subjected to torture and the protection of human dignity. Derogations are permitted in times of emergency, but are limited to periods of 12 days unless the National Assembly decides otherwise, and the National Assembly cannot be dissolved during such a period.
