Summary
On 25 January 1996, the Cambodian government adopted a law ‘to protect national cultural heritage and cultural property in general against illegal destruction, modification, alteration, excavation, alienation, exportation or importation’ (Article 1). Cambodia ratified the 1954 Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property on 4 April 1962. Section 4 deals with classification of cultural property. The law does not provide for specific rules relating to armed conflict.
