Summary
On 14 October 1937, the Royal Decree-Law relating to the militarization of civilian personnel accompanying the Armed Forces in operations was passed.

It grants a military status to civilian personnel which accompanies the armed forces. It also provides for the application of military laws and regulations to Italian Red Cross personnel assigned to the Armed Forces.

Article 1 provides that, in the event of general or partial mobilization, the civilian personnel accompanying the armed forces will be automatically integrated in the military unit they are working for and, as a result, will fall under applicable military law and discipline (Article 2).

This Act also provides for the practical measures applicable to militarized personnel (eg salaries, uniforms…).

Similar rules apply to the religious personnel accompanying the Armed Forces in so far as they do not contradict existing provisions.

Article 8 provides that penal military laws and military disciplinary rules apply to Italian Red Cross personnel assigned to the Armed Forces.
