Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016
Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 [No. F. 22(3)/2015- Legis. (Act No. XL of 2016)]   

On 18 August 2016, the Parliament of Pakistan adopted the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, amending the Electronic Transactions Ordinance 2002 (ETO).

Chapter II of this Act criminalizes acts with respect to information and Section 9 makes it an offence to glorify an offence, person or organization related to, or involved in, terrorism.

In addition, section 10 criminalizes cyber terrorism when an act is intended to coerce, intimidate, create a sense of fear, or insecurity in the Government or the public; advance inter-faith., sectarian or ethnic hatred; or advance the objectives of organizations or individuals or groups proscribed under the law.

Furthermore, section 10 B criminalizes the recruitment, funding and planning for terrorism and Section 19 penalizes child pornography.

Finally, chapter III provides for the establishment of an investigation agency and chapter IV lays out the procedure for prosecuting the offences under this Act.
