Arms and Ammunition Act, 1981

The Act provides for the control of arms and ammunition in Botswana. The Act regulates the types of weapons that can be used and establishes procedures for the sale of arms and ammunition. In particular, Section 13 deals with Prohibition on sale or transfer of arms and ammunition unless a registered dealer; Section 18 with Requirement for arms dealers to keep a register of all transactions; and Section 23 with Prohibition on a person other than one in the service of the State or duly authorised by the Minister to possess automatic weapons and weapons or ammunition which discharge noxious liquids or gases.
