Loi n°2004-6 portant usage et protection en République du Bénin del'emblème et du nom de la Croix Rouge et du Croissant-Rouge

This Law lays down the terms and conditions governing the use of, and the rules of protection for, the emblem and name of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in peacetime and in times of armed conflict. It restricts the use of the emblem and name to the National Red Cross Society of Benin, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the recognized National Societies of other countries, incorporates the principles and definitions laid down by the Geneva Conventions, and provides for sanctions in the event of violation of the rules it sets. In times of armed conflict, the Minister of Defence authorizes the protective use of the emblem.
