The Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, Revised Edition, 1990, Vol. IX, CAP. 162, pp. 6265-6280.

Summary
First issued as the Geneva Conventions Ordinance in 1960, this law has since been inserted without any major modification as Chapter 162 of The Laws of the Federation of Nigeria in 1990 under the title Geneva Conventions Act. This Act provides for the punishment of grave breaches of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and permits the President to provide by order for the punishment of all other breaches. Section 3, subsection 2 of the Act allows Nigerian courts to exercise universal jurisdiction over grave breaches. Five sections are devoted to certain judicial guarantees (legal representation, appeal, death sentence, etc.) that must be afforded to "protected internees" and/or prisoners of war. Section 10 governs the use of the red cross and other emblems.
